About EGM Piano Studio

Ms. Erica G. Moses

My love for music began at an early age.  It all started when I was 4 years old.  My kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Jan Summerall, would play the piano in the classroom.  I was mesmerized by her fingers gliding up and down the keys. I remember telling my mother that I wanted to play the piano like Mrs. Jan. At 6 years old, I began piano lessons under the tutelage of the late Mrs. Juanita Magee in Bogalusa, La.  I excelled in my piano studies.  At age 13, I was the church musician at three local churches in the communities of Angie and Bogalusa.

After high school, I attended Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA.  I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with a minor in voice in 1995.  Also,  I was a two-time winner of the Tourgee DeBose National Piano Competition, and was selected to perform in a Master’s Class with renowned pianist Leon Bates.  Later, I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University in 2017.

Currently, I am employed by St. Tammany Parish Public School System as a certified music teacher. After 30 years of teaching music, I am anticipating retirement at the end of the 2025-2026 school year.  My daughter, Diamond, is my heart and soul.  She’s currently attending Meharry Medical College and will be graduating in 2027.  Also, I’m a member of Music Teachers National Association, Mu Phi Epsilon National Music Fraternity, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

I’ve been playing the piano for more than 45 years.  I thank God for the gift of music.  My purpose is to share the art of piano to others as my music teachers did for me.
